Visual design

The Insolvency Helpline web site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout and uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified 'text size' option in visual browsers. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable. Every effort has been taken to maintain high background/foreground contrast at all times.

Changing text sizes using your web browser

If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer as your Web Browser go to the Menu Bar at the top of the Browser window and click on:

View > Text Size - and select your option (see below). Now select the Refresh Button and all consequent pages/websites* will render with this new text size. (*some incorrectly coded websites may ignore this command). You can also use the Ctrl Key & + to increase text size. Ctrl & - will decrease test size and Ctrl & 0 will revert the site back to a default setting.

Tesxt resizing in Internet Explorer

Firefox, Netscape, Mozilla and others. Go to the Menu Bar at the top of the Browser window and click on:

View > Text Zoom - and select your option (see below). All consequent pages/websites will render with this new text size. As with IE you can also use the Ctrl Key plus + to increase text size. Ctrl plus - will decrease test size and Ctrl plus 0 will revert the site back to a default setting.

Scripting

This site makes some use of JavaScript scripting for visual effects. However, all content remains fully accessible if scripting is unavailable or disabled.

Links

  • Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target.
  • There are very few 'javascript:' pseudo-links (null links). Most links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.
  • There are no links that open new windows.
  • Wherever possible, links are written to make sense out of context. Many browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx, and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page and allow the user to browse the list, separately from the page.

Standards compliance

  • Where possible all pages are intended to comply with all priority 1, 2, and 3 guidelines of the W3 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. All product pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict.
  • All pages use structured semantic XHTML markup. If you find any accessibility problems with our site, please let us know and we will do our best to fix them. You can e-mail us at info@insolvencyhelpline.co.uk.
